DGNB Platinum Award

The Green Globe award for the RheinMain CongressCenter marks another milestone in Wiesbaden’s efforts to establish itself as a more resource-efficient convention and conference destination, one that stands out for its central location in the city, its short distances, and its many green spaces.

DGNB Platinum

As early as 2015—three years before its opening—the RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC) received Gold pre-certification for meeting the requirements of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

Upon its opening in 2018, the RMCC was awarded the DGNB Platinum Certificate—the highest certification level offered by the DGNB.

The certification evaluates buildings based on various criteria, including ecological, economic, functional, and sociocultural aspects, as well as technical and procedural quality. It confirms that the RMCC meets the requirements of the DGNB standard at the Platinum level.

DGNB Diamond

Since October 2018, the RMCC has also been delighted to receive the "DGNB Diamond" award for "outstanding design and building culture quality". For the DGNB, design and building culture are key aspects of holistic sustainability. Among other things, the society's Diamond recognition acknowledges the RheinMain CongressCenter's façade, which has a linearity typical of Wiesbaden in the form of colonnades that form an interface with the city. About the DGNB System

The DGNB describes certification as a "global benchmark for sustainability" among certification systems for sustainable buildings and districts. The DGNB has developed its own certification system to make sustainable building practicable, measurable and therefore comparable. Since then, the system has been continuously developed and is now not only considered the most advanced in the world, but is also internationally recognized as the Global Benchmark for Sustainability.

The independent certification process is used for transparent quality control. A DGNB certificate in platinum, gold or silver can be obtained as proof of this quality in construction. The assessment is based on the overall degree of fulfillment of the relevant criteria and usage profiles (opens in a new tab).

In addition, there are three special awards to complement the certificate: the DGNB Diamond for design and building culture quality, the DGNB "Climate Positive" award for climate-neutral buildings and the DGNB special eco-label award.
